Meanwhile, General Accounting Office (GAO) sent letter to House Govt. Reform Chmn. Burton (R-Ind.) last month disputing allegations in Roll Call ads that criticized GAO conclusion that minimum revenue guarantee (MRG) estimates for FTS 2001 were reasonable. Ads by Crawford Group said report incorrectly assumed 4 of contract’s one-year options would be exercised even though base period runs only 4 years (CD Aug 17 p4). GAO Assoc. Dir.-Governmentwide and Defense Information Systems Linda Koontz called ad’s claim "false and misleading." Ad said MRGs were designed to take effect after 4-year base period ended, whether or not govt. exercised its options. "There is nothing in the contracts that would support the proposition that the MRGs apply to any period other than the entire term of the FTS2001 contracts, which can be as long as 8 years," Koontz wrote. – Doug Abrahms, Mary Greczyn
